New Storyline

Instead of the boys playing a football match, Kofi (Ashley Kates) will be in the hall playing some football. Then a football scout(Gideon Seglah) enters and approaches him. Kofi  then gives him a weird look because he does not know who he is. Gideon then introduces himself to Kofi and tells him that he has been watching him and he likes the way he plays and gives him positive comments.Kofi is shocked, happy and excited, but how do we know that Mr Seglah  is not a "mucked up stalker"

Change of Plans

Ashley and I have decided to change the storyline and give it a twist because our actors who were meant to take part in our filming were not able to show up. they had different excuses and they were "busy" because we filmed on the afternoon of the Christmas dinner and most of the boys said that they were getting ready.
Because of this inconvenience Ashley and I had to change the script because we did not have time to waist.

Timing Issues

While Ashley and I were filming we had issues with our timing, we did not do everything on time as it was meant to be and this is not because we were lazy. We had many interruptions as to reasons why we could not film.
The snow was the biggest problem we faced as it occurred the day before we wanted to film and it got worse and worse.

New Location

Because of the bad weather, Ashely and I did not get to film on the Astroturf, field or playground because it was covered in snow. This could have been avoided if we filmed earlier
We had to get a new location so we chose the sports hall.

Target Audience Member

 

This is Harry, he is a 16 year old boy. He attends College and he is currently doing a diploma in Sport and Leisure Studies. 

 Harry is very sporty and loves trying out new things and he is always up for an adventure. He likes going to the gym and he likes playing sports an he is always trying to pick up new activities. He currently plays football, basketball, baseball, table tennis, rugby, badminton and Golf. Harry likes to play football with his friends in the park and on the Astroturf. He loves it when its the weekend because it means that he gets extra sleep and more time to play. He loves going to cinema to watch movies especially the latest releases. He is also very friendly and bubbly and loves to have a laugh with his friends.

Problems

Bad Weather 
Due to bad weather we were unable to film outdoors the whole of last week and even on the weekend because of the snow. It started on Saturday and continued on Sunday and it got worse during the week so Ashley an I decided to film indoors on the sports hall
The weather forecast shows the bad weather which caused us great inconvenience

Filming
At first Ashley wanted me to film him playing a match in the sports hall with other players so the match they were playing was real and we could not control the players or tell them what to do ie who to pass to, where to shoot etc so I had to try and capture everything with my camera. It was difficult because when Ashley Scored a goal, I did not catch it on camera and we were not happy about that and I could not tell him to re-do the goal. Overall filming this way was unsuccessful so we decided to make it script written so we could tell the actors what to do and when to pass to another player etc. This way it will be much easier and better because we can redo the shots if it is needed.
This way we will be able to capture everything we need on camera and we will be able to shoot from different angles and we will be able to control the match

These three girls will be extra actors in my film and they will only be shown for a few seconds simply because they are going to be used as a cutaway.
They will be a cutaway of them cheering and smiling when Kofie (Ashley) is playing the match. So it is like they are cheering for him which shows that the is good and  they support him.
The cutaway is used to make it more interesting and more exciting

Mayowa Idowu
Mayowa is going to be the mysterious man who makes a phone call to someone we dont know and say "Sir, we have found him" we are not going to see Mayowa's face we are only going to see from his nose down. Although we will see Mayowa's steps as he is walking. This suggests mystery and excitment.

Props

Since this is a film about football there is lots of props used to create the scenery and the environment.We are going to use a lot of props in the clip, we are going to use the basic props that we think is necessary to build up the scene.

We are going to use a football, football kit that would be worn by the players during the match, a football net and a phone that the mysterious men at the end use to contact each other.

We chose this location for the football net because it has good lighting

Soundtrack

The main character of the movie is Ashley Kates and he will be playing as Kofie Gogo and he will be playing a young boy from Zambia who is very interested in playing football and who has dreams of being a professional football player.
Because he is of an African decent, we found suitable song and it is a piece with drums and it is a fast beat.We found this song on www.freeplay.com this song will be played throughout the movie and when the drums start that is when the scene will change from him dressing up to him playing in the match.

Emailing Hull City

Ashley and I initially wanted to film in the football stadium in hull city, that is where he wanted his film to take place. Instead of playing a football match, we wanted him to watch a football match of his favorite team.
This is a copy if the email he sent

"My name is Ashley Kates and I am a lower sixth form student at De Aston School, Market Rasen. I am currently studying A level Media studies, and the brief for my coursework is to compose a film opening lasting 2 minutes. I am a big Hull City fan and a season ticket holder, and I am writing to request permission to record inside the KC stadium on November 20th in the game vs Ipswich Town. I must stress that no reference to the game in question will be made. The shots involved would be: walking towards the stadium, handing in a ticket in the turnstile, walking into the stand, and a close up of East Stand Hull City fans singing. The storyline of the film is of a youth who dreams of being a footballer. I hope that I have included all information necessary and would deeply appreciate permission, as this is an idea that I am very excited about.

Unfortunately we did not receive a reply in time so we decided to have a change of  plans and that is where our idea of playing a match generated from.

Storyline

Ashley's Idea was a football one but we decided to add a twist to the story and put some of my ideas and plans in it. Ashely had an initial idea to film in the football stadium but those plans got abolished because the football club did not respond to his email on time, So we decided to go for the second idea which had a different start and different shots.Instead of starting the clip with a time elapse shots of him dribbling the ball with his feet, dribbling the ball with his head and scoring in the goal, the clip will start with time elapse shots of him putting on his football kit and preparing himself to play a football match. These time elapse shots will have opening credits and titles with them so between every action there is a close up shot or mid shot of him doing something that relates to him preparing for his football match. The new shots are going to be of him putting on his football kit, the first one is going to be of him putting his jersey shirt on following the title of the movie "A Dream Of Glory" after that there is a shot of him putting his socks and shoes on following credits saying "Produced by Ashley Kates & Anjola Delano"  Then another shot of him continuing to put his socks and shoes on following the last credits saying "Starring Ashley Kates" then the rest of the film begins..
We have decided to change the setting at the start of the film, now he will be getting ready in a football in the changing rooms. He will be alone just putting his kit on and playing around with the ball and warming himself up before the match. He plays with the ball and dribbles it and kicks it around and we get a close up from his knees down to his feet. He will then go to the Astroturf to play a match with the other players and he will win that match and celebrate with his other team members. He does not realize that someone is spying on him as he is playing, the creepy man then makes a phone call and says "we have found him" and then it comes to a stop.

Choosing Pairs

Ashley and I have decided to work in a pair, at first we were confused and we thought we were meant to make one video clip each, we got confused because of our preliminary task where we had to make one video each even though we were working together. So me and Ashley had started off with having 2 different ideas, mine was a love story and Ashley's was a football story. When we found out that we were meant to do one video together, we decided to go wish Ashley's idea because he had his own planned out a bit more better than i did. He had already decided where and when he wanted to film and he was very keen on his story, I had trouble thinking about an idea and I had not fully decided what I wanted to do. Ashley's idea was very interesting and well thought out, you could tell had really thought about it and used his imagination very well so I had no problem going with his idea.

Looking At Other Candidates Work

Alternative Justice
This candidate has shown that he has a very good imaginatinon because he has shown he has carefully thought of his idea and what he is going to do in his clip. It is a very good storyline and it creates suspense and mystery. The props are also very good and they match up with the story very well. The soundtrack used is a good one and it also has very good sound effects. It ends with forgrounded breathing and that is very creative and smart. The bad thing about the clip is that too much time is wasted on the opening sequence and it is very long.


These Streets
This candidate's clip is not as well thought out as the other clips that i have seen. The major bad thung that we noticed is that the opening sequence doesnt really have a story line, we never relly understand what is happening or what they are doing. Also they filmed at night so the lightening was not that great either. Good things about this is that it is filmed in real bar, so locations have been thought about carefully and well so it can look professional. There is a good voiceover shown in the beginning which is a good used of sound effects to add suspense and mystery to the clip as the storyline is meant to be  based on suspense.

Veridicality 
This was the best clip that was shown to us, it was very good and it looked very professional and it seems that he had a very wide range of ideas. It was based on horror so it had a good mix and a nice balance of music used, he did it in a way that the music suited what was happening in the scene. The horror scene had scary music being played in he background to add fear and mystery. Another good thing about the clip is that it has animated titles he put the titles on the stairs of an escalator which makes it nicer and gives it a good touch. There is a also a good use of close of close up of him tapping his feet at the start when he is on the phone and it is also an example of cutaway. At the start of the clip when he is on the phone, we can hear the phone ringing which is a good sound effect, we then later see the phone in the house with good close up and the background is blurred and we know that something is happening but we are not really sure, at the end someone wakes up out of a dream after he had withnessed a killer in his house, this shows vey good ideas used and good imagination and it keeps us wondering if it was only a dream. Also there is a good use of lightning use, at the end we also get a good idea of what the film is about because we get the defination of veridicality 

Research

Six Feet Under  
The title Six Feet Under suggests that the show is about death or maybe old people. The soundtrack that is being played in the opening sequence is alike church bells and a funeral service usually takes place in a church. The first image we see in the opening sequence is the crow flying around in the sky and it is said that they are commonly thought to circle above scenes of death. There is a huge impact with music on detailed points of movements and actions like when the hands are being separated apart, this suggests that they are being parted by something which could be death. Lots of close ups are used to emphasize on what the characters are doing like washing their hands which may suggest that they are preparing to work on a corpse or that they have just finished working on a corpse. There is use of animated titling and the opening credits are thought of carefully as one is placed on a gravestone to suggest to us that the series is about death. We also see pale feet on a trolley being taken into a hallway of light so it may suggest that it a dead person going into heaven. There are cutaways of the sky and clouds shown often to suggest that after death it is peaceful and heaven like. There are a lot of death related objects shown like the flowers and the gravestones, cold lifeless corpse that is being groomed which maybe for a funeral as the body has been dressed up and we also see a coffin which is in the car.





Dexter
Dexter starts with the main character killing a mosquito; which is a bloodsucker. it shows death and blood which suggests to us what the clip is going to be about.Dexter looks pleased when the mosquito has been killed which may suggest he is evil and likes death. We then see the title dexter and it is very red and it is in a bloody colour and it is also messy which suggests it is written in blood, we can see blood-like stains. When the show starts we see his morning routine and everything he is doing in his routine is perfectly normal but the close ups, music and detail make it seem very gruesome and disturbing. Everything  that he is doing relates to death and blood. When he is shaving, he cuts himself and the blood drips down very slowly and splats on the ground. When he is cutting the oranges up with the knives it is like he is cutting into someone's flesh and the colour of the inside of the orange is also very red and bloody. The ketchup that is being added to the eggs also resembles the colour of blood. There is alot of blood like substances that is shown in the clip and all these suggests murder and death. Even when there is no bloody colour being shown, when he is flossing and tieing up his shoe laces, he uses a very tight grip and this may suggest he is strong.




Donnie Darko

main character at the beggining 

The movie Donnie Darko is very strange and we are able to know this because the movie starts off with a young boy lying in the middle of the road. It is a long take and it has no cuts, he is the main focus at the start of the movie and the only character we see. This suggests that he is the main character of the movie.
The way that he then comes into the shot is strange because he comes into the shot with his back to us and he stands up from below. When he faces the camera, an animated title is shown by the side of his face with the name of the movie "Donnie Darko" this suggests that he is Donnie Darko because the name and title is very close to his face. When he is driving his bike home, we are then introduced to as to where the setting of the movie is taken place, there is a shot of a halloween poster which also suggest when the movie was created, which is in the 21st century as everything is modern and up to date. We are aware that it is in the US in a rich neighbourhood, we are aware that it is in the US because of thier accents.

The music and soundtrack used in the movie adds to.the strangeness of the movie The thunder at the beggining suggests that something bad is going to happen.When he is on the bike home, a song is being played this is the first song in the movie.When he then gets home, the song is immediately stopped, it is usually stoped by the music slowly fading away. the immediate stop is strange and suggests to us that the movie is strange. When he gets home, there is a note saying "Where's Donny?" on the fridge, that is unusal because if they did not know where donny was, surely they will be looking for him. not just post a note on the fridge sayinig "Where's Donny?". The scene with the whole family sitting round at the dining table is very bizzare becasue there is lots of swearing, and the parents do not get strict or worried. even when the young girl swears the father starts laughing instead of correcting her and getting angry.

City Of God
This movie is not in english, it is a brazillian movie which is urban but the subtitles helps us to understand it. At the beggining, there is no sound, it is silent and then we start to hear the sound of a knife which is forgrounded. The knife is being sharpend so we can hear the sound very clearly as it is very distinctive. The start seems to be very happy, there are musical instruments being played while the knife is still being rubbed againt the stone and we see carrots being cut which suggests that they are cooking. This may suggest a festival or party of some sort. It is obvious that they are cooking because a chicken is being killed and it is being cooked. We then see another chicken and the chicken sees lots of detail and sees what has happened to the dead chicken, there are lots of close ups used which gives us the image that the chicken sees what is happening and does not want it to happen to him, so he then escapes. As soon as the chicken escapes, the movie is not as happy and joyful as it was when it started off, everybody is chasing after the chicken and trying to catch it with differnt weapons such as guns and sharp objects. There is another scene consisting of two boys being shown and the chicken ends up being infront of the boys, When the young boy sees the boy with the gun, there is slow motion that takes place. The chicken is a linking device and it links both crowds, the opposing forces are linked by the chicken which makes the chase take place and makes the main character stuck in the middle. When he tries to catch the chicken, all the guns are aimed at him which takes him back to a flashback and an intelligent use of turning is used. There is a use of voiceover of Rocket narrating the clip, so we can tell that he is going to be the main character of the movie. There is also use of parallel story lines taking place. The colour tones are very different in the two scenes, the flashback is much brighter and the present is very gloomy and dark. lots of swearing is used in both times, even as kids they are swearing. There is a vet good shot used when there is a bullet that goes through the ball.

Cold Mountain

Soldier looking pale, tired and scruffy

We are told by the text on the screen that it is the civil war and it takes place on the year 1864. Animated titles are used to create an illusion for example, the names gently rippling on the water.The movie starts of with a voice over delivered by a femaile character who is obviosly writing a letter or a telegram or communation of some sort to the male character that is later shown which shows relation between them. There is a good use of colur being used, warm colours are used when we see the rabbit underground, it may have suggested the hot temprature underground, and then when he goes overground, we see cooler colours  like blue to suggest the temperature.When the female character is narrating, he looks at a picture of a lady so this suggests that it is the woman that he is looking at. there is a very convincing close up because it shows his grubby hands and his worn out book and it shows integrity. The soldiers look grey and dull to suggesr tiredness and they have to borrow clothes from the dead. The rabbit provides linkage between the two groups and shows us the rivalry that they have between one another. There is a huge explosion and everthing is getting burnt and destroyed and there is a close up on the picture of the girl when it is being burnt and all her letters are being destroyed. this shows sadness and sorrow and the music that is being played also shows its sad.
