A hollywood production takes a long time to make, it goes through 3 stages:
Preproduction (the preparation of the film) 3-6 months, could be more.
Production (Filming) 2-4 months more or less depending on the film.
Post production (editing and all fininshing/polishing of the film) 6-8 months.

it took James Cameron 14 years to make avatar. he write the movie 14 years ago from 2009 but then stop due to technology problems. during that time he made titanic. in 2005 James Cameron thought that technology had caught up so he could now carry on making avatar. avatar was meant to release in may 22 2009 but than came out in 17/18 DEC 2009 because not all cinemas had 3D projector's.

They arrange everything to do with the film. this includes
The publicity for the film
they also arrange to place the stars in chat shows prior to the opening of the film
they arrange the collection of income from all sources and distribute it as per contacts
they arrange all other distributions of the film eg the rental, DVD/Blue ray, video stream, free-to-air, airline, hotel, arrange the film premier, etc
But my movie is a typical student production so I am not going to distribute my film with the FDA, instead if i wanted to distribute it, it would be distributed using a web 2.0 site such as YouTube.
YouTube is a very popular website thatlets anyone upload videos for public and private viewing. you can create an account and subscribe to other users videos. another example of a YouTube hit is the clip 'Matt Dancing' this is a clip of a man doing a funny dance around the world In 2006, Matt took a 6 month trip through 39 countries on all 7 continents. In that time, he danced a great deal.
