7) Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
If compare my preliminary task to my film that I have just created, it is obvious that I have come a long way and I have improved in my research and planning because In my film i had to do a lot more than i had to do for my preliminary task.

My research for my preliminary task included of looking at past candidates work to guide me through what to do. Our teacher also told us the Do's and Dont's for example we should make sure we film on the right side when we are doing the over the shoulder shot during the conversation, we should make sure we dont look into the camera we should look at the other actor.Other research that we did for the preliminary task was that we looked at different scripts and picked the one that we wanted to do, the scripts were really short and the lines were easy. It was not complicated.

We had to do alot more research for our movie because we wanted to know what will be suitable and we wanted to get lots of idea's for our movie to make it look as professional as we could. Our research included of looking at other film openings and looking at other candidates work and looking at what they were able to do.

Movies we looked at were Donny Darko, City Of God, Cold Mountain.

TV shows we looked at were Dexter, Six Feet Under.

we had to look at the music that was played and how it associated with what was happeneing, we had to look at characters and how they related to each other, we had to look at the camera and how it was used and at the angles at which they were used and the different methods of shooting that was used. All of this mattered and counted towards our final film.

we also looked at past candidates work and we learnt from their mistakes and we also looked at what they did and the various techniques they used and picked what we  liked and we decided whether we wanted to add it to our film.

We saw in one film that a mistake they made was that a character looked at the camera for a second or even less, in our movie we made sure that we did not encounter such errors.

Apart from looking at other film openings, for my research we looked for music on a website that had free soundtrack the website http://www.freeplaymusic.com/ so that we choose the sound track we want. we could not get one off you tube because it was copyright.

Our planning for our main task was a lot more than our planning done for our preliminary task

We had to choose a partner to work with and choose people to act for us in our movie while in our preliminary task we filmed and acted by ourselves. Our preliminary task did not take long to make it was a very brief preliminary task which lasted a very short time and we were given scripts to work with which made it easy and we did not waste time on it while we had to think of our story line for our movie ouselves, we were not allowed to re create a movie or steal its storyline. We were meant to think of everything ourselves from scrap. We thought of what genre of movie we wanted to create,  we thought of the pople we wanted to use in it; the people we thought would make good actors. We made multiple story boards and we had different ideas for a script and we had to show it all out using story boards

During  our planning we had to look at other things like our location and we had to look around and decide where will be best to shoot our film, we looked around at different places and we thought carefully about where will be suitable to shoot our movie. At first we decided we wanted to shoot outdoors on the astroturf, then we decided it would be better if we shoot on the playground just outside the boarding house which had a bench. We couldnt go along with this plan because of the weather issues we had, it was a snow week and the whole of outside was covered in snow for weeks. So because of this, we decided to look for a new location and change of location caused change of script.

Our planning also included of thinking of what costumes we would like our actors to wear and the props we would like them to use in the movie.

All the planning and research we did for our main task was alot compare to our preliminary task but it was important that it was done so that we could complete our final task and make it as good as we could.
